Third graders are writing their letters to the United Way's Regional Commission to End Homelessness. They are using the following outline to write their letter:
Write it so that it sounds like you are talking. Use the words “I” and “me”
FIRST PARAGRAPH
In the first paragraph of your letter introduce yourself and what you are writing to them about.
Tell Former Mayor Shirley Franklin, Jack Hardin and Milton Little why this issue matters to you.
SECOND PARAGRAPH
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Tell them what you have learned in school about homelessness
or Tell them what you have learned about homelessness from talking with your family or an experience you have had.
THIRD PARAGRAPH
Tell Former Mayor Shirley Franklin, Jack Hardin and Milton Little what you would like him to do to help homeless people in Atlanta. Remember that we talked about temporary and permanent solutions to help homeless people. Temporary might be having more shelters. Permanent might be helping them find a job, building less expensive homes...
FOURTH PARAGRAPH

Third graders have completed their four week introduction to keyboarding using Type to Learn 4.
They are now using Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 (PS) to create a Warhol-like print using their yearbook photos. After importing their photo into PS, they will copy them four times onto blank PS documents and then use the layer, filters and special effects tools to transform their photos.
Here are several of their completed Photoshop projects:

Third Graders are starting off the year learning how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0. Photoshop is a wonderful software program designed to help people manipulate images and text. As part of this project students are learning how to create a blank document of a specific size, save their document to their folder in the computer lab, add and delete layers, use the brush tool and select the diameter and type of brush they will use and select colors. You can see projects that students will be doing in Fourth and Fifth grade using Photoshop by following these links:
